once you get a ticket then you should be able to deal directly with one of there techs. good luck. then you have to create a support profile. i havent done this but at that point you can request a support ticket.   i know its alot of to go through to get help but thats there system. Ok go to the main page of the line 6 site. ive never used one but somewhere on here you can get one. ill look around and see if i can find how thats done. they have a thing called a support ticket that allows you to deal one on one with a tech. there not gonna tell you anything that will void a warantee or go out of the company line because that makes them responsable for anything that might go wrong.
i did that and everything worked. as far as line 6 techs being asleep at the wheel.

its a bypass for the registration problem. i remember that was what i did because my 300 was registered to someone else. Can this be the cause of the error? I add the serial to this prefix and add a trailing zero accoridn to the instructions but all I get is: "There was a problem - Serial # is the wrong length". In the "Serial #" field the prefix is "2175S" which doesnt exactly match what is stated under 1. Fill in the date purchased and click "Submit".Enter the 8 digits on the back of your headstock after the serial number prefix.

The serial number field will partially fill with a serial prefix that will look something like "21xxx125". When I get to the registration page, the instructions read:

I certainly hope that the fact that the product is not registered is causing the firmware upgrade problems? If this is the case I need help to register. I tried several times and different approaches but still the same error. However, when I try to register I get an error that the serial number has an incorrect length. Any help is appreciated.Īnother mystery is that each time I select the Variax Bass 705 as device, I get a reminder to register the product. If I then choose the Variax USB Interface in this list (there is no Variax Bass option listed here), then when I am returned to the Monkey main dialog the Variax USB Interface is depicted in the upper left but underneath it says "Not connected". If in this dialog I click the "I don't see my device" button, I get another dialog that says "No devices detected" in the caption bar, and in the upper drop down list. If I click the "Change Device" button in the Monkey main dialog, the only thing that's listed in the "Device" column in the "Choose Device" dialog that opens is "Variax Bass 705" and in the "Connection" column it says "Variax USB Interface". No - because the RJ-45 doesn't use ethernet protocol - it has its own Variax standard, otherwise you could just connect the RJ-45 to the Ethernet socket of your computer directly with no need for USB.

Likewise the new X3 Live and X3 Pro have Variax connectors but the X3 bean does not.Ī wild thought wouldn't any RJ-45 Ethernet to USB adapter suffice to connect the Variax Bass to the computer and communicate with the Line6 Monkey software? Be aware that only the XT Live model of the XT range has the Variax connector - the desktop (bean as we call them) and Pro do not. Well it is self-sufficient, until you need to re-flash it of course. But I don't recall the Bass POD XT having a socket fitting this hybrid cable, I only recall it having a USB and MIDI interface. I had until recently a Bass POD XT but unfortunately I sold it in favor of a Phil Jones Bass Buddy. My mistake is thus that I regarded the Variax Bass itself as a self-sufficient hardware (or it's Line6's mistake not to). Where can I get it fixed?
